Welcome to the WFP Food Security Atlas

Welcome to the World Food Programme's Food Security Web Atlas. The goal of the Food Security Atlas is to provide information on the geographical distribution food security and nutrition among the people and regions supported by the World Food Programme.

What is Food Security?

“Food security exists when all people, at all times, have physical and economic access to sufficient, safe, and nutritious food, and to meet their dietary needs and food preferences for an active and healthy life”. World Food Summit Plan of Action (Rome Italy 13 November 1996).

Attaining Food Security is a fundamental aim of good government and is recognized as a basic human right by governments and civil society. Progress has been made towards food security in Cambodia, but this is measured against widespread food insecurity in recent history and famine and human catastrophe in the 1970s.

In Cambodia today, malnutrition levels are still high at the national level. Levels of food insecurity and vulnerability vary substantially by geographic region and by social group within Cambodia. Food Security has not yet been fully achieved for all Cambodian people at all times.
